Insurance/Financing Information

As of 2016:

New Hampshire Medicaid plans often cover one hearing aid for adults and two for children.

Vermont Medicaid plans often cover two hearing aid for adults and children.

New Hampshire is one of three states that requires insurance companies to cover hearing aids up to $1,500 per ear, yet insurance companies that are self-funded often do not cover hearing aids. Some policies may not provide complete coverage, so please check your specific plan.

Medicare Part B covers diagnostic hearing and balance exams if your doctor or health care provider orders these tests to see if you need medical treatment.  Medicare doesn't cover hearing aids or exams for fitting hearing aids, yet some secondary supplemental insurances may cover part of the cost.

VRH Audiology Department's Payment Policy:

  • Patients must pay 50% of the price of a hearing aid (including trial and dispensing fees) at the time they receive the aid, regardless of payment plan.
  • Patients who pay a bill in full within 30-days will receive a 15% discount. This applies to the entire amount, including the 50% initial payment.
  • Audiology follow-ups will not be scheduled if a patient has overdue audiology bills, until those bills are paid.
