Hearing Loss Education and The Susan G. Komen Foundation
November 19, 2012
On Friday, November 9th, former Phoenix Sun Cedric Ceballos joined the EarQ team at this year’s Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) Convention at the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix to support EarQ’s efforts to raise awareness for two major health concerns in our world-hearing loss and breast cancer.
Ceballos discuss the important role that the EarQ Hearing Education and Discount Program for the National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) is playing in the lives of his colleagues. The program ensures that the NBRPA’s membership, which includes current and former professional basketball players, will receive hearing health education and professional assistance from EarQ providers for themselves and their family members.
While meeting, signing autographs and taking photos with attendees, Ceballos encouraged visitors to shoot some hoops with him at the in-booth basketball hoop for a great cause; for every basket made, EarQ pledged a donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation .
This fundraiser capped off an already successful Pink Friday campaign, in which members of the EarQ staff wore a custom-designed t-shirt every Friday throughout October to raise awareness and facilitate donations to the foundation. Recent research has shown a link between cancer and hearing loss, in part due to the effects of cancer-fighting treatments on one’s ears.
