The Hearing Industry Research Consortium (IRC) has revealed the two recipients of its first public grant opportunity: Piers Dawes, Ph.D., a research fellow at the University of Manchester, and Andrea Pittman, Ph.D., an associate professor at Arizona State University.
Drs. Dawes and Pittman will both receive $150,000 to conduct separate research to further explore the relationship between hearing devices and the user’s cognitive, or thought-processing, abilities.
They were chosen from more than fifteen applicants.
The IRC is comprised of the top researchers from leading hearing technology manufacturers GN ReSound, Oticon, Phonak, Siemens, Starkey Hearing Technologies and Widex. The IRC’s goal is to conduct hearing loss and hearing aid research in order to benefit the hearing health industry as a whole.
