Throughout pre-race activities on March 13-15, the HearStrong Foundation partnered with the LA Marathon to celebrate the importance of addressing hearing loss and to recognize Danielle Strassle, a HearStrong Champion competing in the 30th Edition race.
Los Angeles, CA (March 17, 2015)—During the 30th Edition of the LA Marathon on March 15, representatives of the HearStrong Foundation took a major step forward for hearing health awareness—26.2 miles, to be exact.
At the ASICS LA Marathon Health and Fitness Expo in the Los Angeles Convention Center, members of the HearStrong Foundation team provided free hearing health check-ups to race participants and guests as well as helped educate them about the many physical, mental, and emotional benefits of hearing better.
Joining the HearStrong team was HearStrong Champion and race participant Danielle Strassle. On March 14, representatives of the LA Marathon joined the HearStrong Foundation to formally recognize Danielle for overcoming her hearing loss to achieve her personal goals—which included completing her first marathon.
Danielle was diagnosed with severe-to-profound hearing loss as an infant. Her early utilization of hearing devices and technology allowed her the confidence to experience her life to the fullest. In the summer of 2014, she completed three triathlons.
“Danielle is a wonderful example of how choosing to utilize hearing technology to hear better is a decision made out of strength, not weakness,” said Clifford Carey, a representative of the HearStrong Foundation. “We are so proud to work with an organization as impactful as the LA Marathon to help change the way people view hearing loss in our society.”
